on p'tin's "issue" with nazi's .....

on more than several occasions p'tin has intimated that a substantive rationale for russia's invasion of the ukraine is its association with "nazi's."   i would suppose that he would also view this as a substantive basis for invading germany, italy and japan at this late date.

but, russia's association with "nazi's" goes much deeper than mere name calling, and puts the lie to any russian assertion that there is some sort of antipathy between the soviet/russian communists and fascism, such as would justify the russian invasion of the ukraine.

the year is 1939.  and adolph hitler and joseph stalin both coveted poland, to the point of armed aggression and war.   but, each was prepared to invade poldand.

now a lot of you may not be aware of the historial result of this, because not many of you care much for "history" these days, that being the study of factual events and not hypothetical ideological posturing.  the following is based on fact.   you may get a highly condensed (but pretty accurate recitation of the following events) version from wikipedia.--

Soon after the pact, Germany invaded Poland on 1 September 1939. Soviet leader Joseph Stalin ordered the Soviet invasion of Poland on 17 September, one day after a Soviet–Japanese ceasefire came into effect after the Battles of Khalkhin Gol.^[11] After the invasions, the new border between the two countries was confirmed by the supplementary protocol of the German–Soviet Frontier Treaty. In March 1940, parts of the Karelia and Salla regions, in Finland, were annexed by the Soviet Union after the Winter War. That was followed by the Soviet annexation of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and parts of Romania (Bessarabia, Northern Bukovina and the Hertsa region). Concern for ethnic Ukrainians and Belarusians had been used as pretexts for the Soviets' invasion of Poland. Stalin's invasion of Bukovina in 1940 violated the pact since it went beyond the Soviet sphere of influence that had been agreed with the Axis.^[12]

The territories of Poland annexed by the Soviet Union after the 1939 Soviet invasion east of the Curzon line remained in the Soviet Union after the war ended and are now in Ukraine and Belarus. 

so, not only was russia/the soviet union sufficiently tolerant of fascism to make an agreement with nazi germany, but that tolerance not only included making joint and co-ordinated war upon a sovereign state, but mutually enjoying the "spoils" of such war, which, for the soviets, lasted deeply into the late 20th century.  you will please note that some of the "rationales/pretexts" for partition of poland are mouthed by p'tin to this day for his "excuses" for invading the ukraine.  (protection of ethnic russians, yada yada etc.)

so, when p'tin says that the ukraine deserves conquest because of its "nazi past & present," he is simply blowing hot air out his mouth, or his ass, which ever you prefer, because they are pretty much equivalencies in my view.

this site has a map that you can actually read, and make sense of, as well as linked stories and other analysis.   it is what american stations and papers would like to be, but never quite are.   eat your heart out, new york times.

my readership on the ukraine war has fallen off considerably, i suspect perhaps because i so stridently endorse attacking russia in support of the ukraine.   "whadda ya thinkin', you wanna get us intu wwiii?"   well, i am thinking that we are in it, and, i am thinking as in any fight, best to get your best licks in first.  "git thar futtest w/ the mostust," as the old saying goes.

what do you suggest, wait until the russian bastards are halfway across poland before it's time to get excited?

at any rate, i will leave this link up, and suggest you go there for your news.  it is not a hot link, you are going to have to type/paste it in.  hey, life is tough, soldier. you'd have to read a whole bunch to get the story as clearly told as these maps  .....  they don't change much, that means the russians are getting their asses kicked.   they show major inroads of the russian invasion forces into ukrainian territory, it is a worrisome situation.

god grant us all safety, but, hiding under a rock is not a safe place to be.  ever.  time to engage the rooskies, before they rebuild and get stronger.

p'tin's/russia's military has been fought to a standstill in the ukraine, being unable to make advances after ukraine's defenses have stabilized.    this ran true around kiev, and it is running true in the southeast of the country.  russian ground troops fight with very little zeal.   only the air force attacks with much vigor, and that is because they are largely unopposed.***

the ukraine depletes the russian military.

the only thing that p'tin has at his disposal to protect himself and russia from a strong n.a.t.o. response is bluster, and "not so veiled" threats of a nuclear response.   well, if that is what the silly fuck wants, give it to him.   obliterate russia, and lay about four or five nukes on moscow, and target every missile silo in the damned country.

destroy p'tin, destroy moscow, destroy russia, if that is what the silly fuck wants.

we are heading for wwiii with p'tin at the helm of the russia (the "soviet union" in his imagination.)   he is delusional if he thinks that he has the power at his disposal to fend off an all out attack upon russian soil by the combined n.a.t.o. alliance.   he is also delusional if he thinks there will be a brick left over if russia sustains a full blown nuclear assault by the u.s. and its allies.   there will not be enough people left over to populate a good sized bridge tournament.  simple as that.

russia will be reduced to a country in the east where the mainstay of those left behind will be trapping and wearing furs.   china will seize that in relatively short order.

now, the question becomes, how much damage can the u.s. and europe expect to sustain from russian forces in response to an all out preemptive strike?  it is a matter somewhat in doubt, as far as i can discern.    russia nominally has a lot of nukes, and a lot of long range missiles.    just as they have a lot of other "nominal" conventional weaponry such as tanks, supply trucks, and the like, none of which runs or functions with any particular degree of reliability.

so, the issue is, how strong is the russian nuclear component?   will it get missiles out of the silo, and missiles into orbital and sub-orbital trajectories?   can they hit the broad side of a barn?    and, will the warheads function at full calculated yield.?

the crucial issue being, how much launch capability do they retain after a full scale preemptive attack?

and, the other crucial issue being, just how likely is vladimir p'tin to survive a full scale, balls to the walls, preemptive nuclear attack on moscow, and all the launch sites in the soviet union (remember, this is p'tin's mind we are talking about)/russia?   how likely is he to be converted into atomic molecules and smoke and ash?

will p'tiin launch, if he is assured that he brings about his own death?

i don't think so.   what do you think?   what does the feeble twit biden think, and, more importantly, what do the joint chiefs of staff and their nuclear launch people think?

i say, give the ukrainians every thing they need to kick the russians out of the ukraine, and let us find out.

*** yes, yes, yes, ... , by all means.   give the ukraine fighter planes, of any sort ....  they will inflict damage on russian planes and pilots, flying anything at their disposal.   bravery and resolve mean a lot, even in technologically advanced weaponry.

consider this, when you consider the "lowly" .30-30 winchester cartridge ....

2,200 feet per second is an approximate muzzle velocity for most bullets fired from a 20" barreled .30-30 rifle.   given the high velocities of most rifles these days, this performance is sometimes scoffed at.   but, consider this.--

2,200 feet per second is just another way of expressing 1,500 miles an hour, a speed not attained by quite a few modern fighter planes.  so, you users of the .30-30, the next time someone asks you how fast the bullets go from your rifle, just tell them, "about 1500 miles an hour ... " and then mumble "... for a little bit ... " under your breath.

now, the .30-30 fired parallel with the ground from average should height is only in flight for a fraction of a second (determined by the formula d=1/2 a(t)(t) ), but, still in all, it is still a "modern ballistic."

and, to put the matter in some perspective, it puts the performance of the 7.62x39mm russian (model 43) cartridge*** in the shade, as that cartridge shoots a bullet roughly 2/3's the bullet weight of the .30-30 at not quite the same velocity.  

so, don't scoff at the .30-30 winchester.   within its range limitations, it is a plenty lethal deer cartridge, and more than a few elk and black bear have fallen to it, as well.*****   so, if you want to keep a .30-30 on a gun rack ready to go to protect family, kin and those dear to you, you will be well and suitably armed.   get a "red dot" sight mounted on it for night time use, and you will be ready for about anything.

if you have little ones, and kids not quite suitably mature to be around an untended firearm, keep it secure under lock and key or in a gun safe.  prudence is, after all, taking precautions for a dangerous instrumentality, and a .30-30 is most assuredly that.

*** read that as "ak-47 kalashnikov."   no point buying one of those buggers, when you can pick up a marlin 336 or winchester 94 "used" for "cheaper than dirt" after most deer seasons.   and, have a lot better gun, to boot.

*****  needless to say, but i will say it anyway, it is more than enough gun to handle 200 to 300 pound two-legged mammals, regardless of disposition and/or the "courage & influence" of drugs and/or alcohol, or just plain stupidity.  very quickly, and without much fuss.  just keep it handy, and quickly accessible.   it's no good to you, if you cannot get at it.   kapish?

another fuel storage facility in burning inside the territorial limits of russia ..... not too far from the first one ....

you'd think a country like russia would be more responsible in the manner in which it stores its fossil fuels.   you'd think they'd monitor their storage facilities a little better.   maybe they don't realize that there is a war on  .....   one they picked, btw.   in case anyone has forgotten the unprovoked invasion.

if a neptune missile unit can find, target & hit a warship at sea that they should be able to hit a storage tank, or perhaps an oil refinery.   just a tweak here, a tweak there, ought to do the trick.  one would think.

observation.  sputtering spittin p'tin owns the war in the ukraine.   but, consider this.==   the russian people own "the impaler", lock stock & barrel.   he belongs to them, and they are responsible for him, and for his actions.    in short, the russian people are responsible for all the death, destruction and atrocities committed by russian troops & p'tin in ukraine.

they deserve no immunity from war waged by their nation against another nation and its people.  something they should keep in mind.   i should think this realization, all by itself, would impel them to rid themselves of liability for p'tin.    the chickens will eventually come home to roost.   and, i mean "home."   they cannot avoid this forever.

desantis is right .... the board of directors of twitter do hold a fiduciary duty to their shareholders/owners not to dilute the value of the company's stock ..... to include elon musk .....

those who control twitter don't want to give up control of the soapbox.   so, they are trying to sell shares to dilute elon musk's percentage of control, to combat any influence he may have sitting on the board of directors.   but, in announcing their plans, they drove down the price of twitter stock, damaging their current share holders.

i think desantis is correct when he asserts this is a breach of the fiduciary duty owed to current share holders.   i don't know corporate law that well, to say whether doing so is criminal in nature, or just a civil/contractual breach giving rise to damages to shareholders ...  to include musk.

but, it is a correct and trenchant observation, by my lights.

i hope musk sues them for breach of the fiduciary duty owed to him, and to others owed that fiduciary duty.   in short, he should file a class action suit, right now.   tomorrow morning would be good.

said action to name personally the officers of the company which directed the "poison pill" gambit, alleging personal liability.    a real "put that 'poison pill" in your coffee, and swill it down" kind of statement.

the russians prepare for "this," they prepare for "that," and they do very little in ukraine, except get killed .....

the "new" general who excelled at killing syrian civilians was appointed with the promise that he would bring "new life" into a moribund land force in the ukraine.  his hot breath may be on the back of many necks in his infantry, but, so far they have not responded, and they are as lethargic as they were in the west.

so far, they excel only in press releases, and preparation.   reminds me of the old joke, "practice, practice, practice  ......  doesn't any actually f... anything around here."   well, i guess you had to be there.    the russian infantry may march in red square rather smartly with their goose step (copied from the germans) but they are a lethargic laggard group on the battlefield.

i hope and trust that such will remain the case, and that the ukrainians continue to kill them by the truck load.   i have yet to see any change in the infantry.

in the meantime, the russian continue to excel in bombing apartment buildings, hospitals and murdering civilians.   i see little reason why the west should not consider nuking the living piss out of russian  .....  they deserve it.   and, royally, have it coming.

p.s.   and, they do excel at getting killed.   this has been going on for so long that "the word" cannot help but being spread, like wild fire.   p'tin will not survive this, i am thinking.   uneasy lies the head of the dictator, who is not successful in war.   nor one who picks the wrong war, and misjudges his opposition.   i have four bypasses, six stents, and three active aortic aneurysms, and i remain optimistic that i will outlive p'tin  .....   clean living, and all of that.   plus, i was not so stupid as to invade the ukraine and get my ass kicked, but, royally.

"new" missile?

i've watched several films purporting to be russia's "new" missile, capable of launching nukes.

quite frankly, it doesn't look like too much to get excited about.   it came out of the launcher crooked, and when what appears to be a single motor ignited, it didn't look like it "righted" the missile very steadily  .....  a little hitch in the gitalong, by my lights.   .....  technically speaking, it had an excessive squiggle in the rear end   .....  whatever it was, they don't appear to have the "bugs" out of it just yet.

to me, it appears to be more of the same old stuff.   who cares?   and, until it is proven deployed in proven numbers, it reminds me of nothing so much as a whole host of russian/soviet weapons that were announced and were never built and/or deployed.   including a jet that the press got all "fussed up" about being the equal of an f-22, and a bit later it proved to be a plywood mock up that never got off the ground.

the soviets/russians are great liars about such matters, and the press gobbles the slop right up.  samo samo.
