and, oh, yeah, some speedy little patrol boats for shallow water, ports, coastal inlets and the like, and sturdy enough for short high speed runs on big open water.
just like our wwii p.t. boats. with two torpedo tubes athwart the bow, ... , hey, how is that for being "naval." no machine guns. about 8 or 10 american/n.a.t.o. anti-tank missiles in about 4 lauchers, good enough for hitting vessels at the water line, and accurate enough to hit flammable stores on the decks of cargo vessels trying to resupply the russians.
hell, maybe they could catch a russian sub snoozing on the surface, not paying any damned attention. hint: lots of mufflers. lots and lots of mufflers.
we are talkiing about the old high speed runs paula and i made to south dakota .... a couple jars of peanut butter, plenty of grape jelly and some good hearty wheat breads like the euro's make and a couple very rudimentary hot bunks for snoozes in shirts. just in case an overnighter is contemplated. just enough to sneak away from the coast and go catch a russian in port in the very early morning, and then get the hell back into a little fishing shed.
purely hit and run like hell.
a couple 500 piston engines, gas or diesel, who cares, about 40' in length. no wheel house, just a wheel and some rudimentary radio's, and crewed by some of the same guys ambushing soviet tanks. bright, eager, aggressive, but not so smart that they understand just exactly what they are doing.

p.s. yes, yes, yes .... i was very impressed by the ukrainians getting that boat in harbor, as it was offloading. (maybe two boats, and extensive damage to the docking facilities, as well.) very impressed, indeed.
p.s.s. so far, the russians are sort of like american buffalo being "introduced" to the sharps and remington rolling block rifles in .50-70 and .45-90 .... they know that what is happening to them is not good, but, they haven't the wherewithal to figure out what to do about it.
you can count on the russians bringing in more troops. you can count on the ukrainians to keep killing them by the truck load. based on the russian conduct so far, killing babies and pregnant mothers, shooting 4-year old little girls and having the unmitigated gall and arrogance to film it, .... , all of that, .... , i cannot think of anyone in the world right now who deserves killing more than a russian soldier. assholes and idiots.
