well, it was pretty god damned dumb on their part to think no one would notice "the steal," compounded by the notion that blabbermouth john brennan wouldn't point out their part in it.
but, the big boo boo was not closing up shop right now, when they first got an inkling that the frankfurt station was suspected in having a hacking role in "the steal," controlling the voting machines. they should have pulled the plugs, but not after wiping the hard drives, destroying them, and taking out the memory chips.
instead they brought in their special ops guys to guard the place. very dumb. sort of like putting up a "we're guilty" sign in the window. and, whoever shot the army guys (i suspect that perhaps gina hapsel might have pulled the first trigger) pulled a "major stupid" out of his or her bag of tricks. not smart. not smart at all. they are lucky the army didn't pull up in an armored personnel carrier, ... , or, maybe they did. whatever. a special sort of dumb to open fire.
at any rate, the c.i.a., reputed to be rather clever, played this one rather "not-so-clever" once they became suspected. and, they haven't played gina hapsel's "disappearance" very cleverly, either: sometimes, it is best to keep one's damned mouth shut. especially in the "you-don't-want-to-be-noticed" business.

p.s. not a good idea to leave bodies on your doorstep, if you don't want noticed. not smart at all.
