well, the dems and the media labored mightily, lied and cheated, and came up empty. "they labored mightily, and almost but not quite, issued forth a mouse."
the big winner. it is clear that a cabal at state, the f.i.b. and the c.i.a. and in the senate attempted a banana republic-styled coup to oust trump from the presidency. did i mention the media and the washington d.c. & pbs circle of talking heads? it didn't work. most of them are exposed for the traitorous assholes they were and are, and trump remains vitally in office, satisfying campaign promises.
the big winner is donald trump. head and shoulders above the little people who tried to unseat him.
the big loser. john mccain, as it turned out, died way too soon to be exposed as the person who circulated the "dossier" of trumps sins among the washington elites. i was pleased when he died to have outlived him, and sorry to see him not exposed for the treacherous pathologically driven madman in search of an office that he could not fairly win, while still alive.
mccain's role in hatching the coup attempt is unclear at this point, but it is obvious that he took the roll of point man in the attacks on trump from almost the beginning. his whole life he schemed for what he was too lazy to win by honest effort, and this perfidy was the perfect culmination to his life. i am sorry he escaped the public humiliation.
if you were stupid enough to admire him for his vote on obamacare early on, and thought it a vote of principle, than please re-calibrate your thinking.
little winners. i lived long enough to see two democrats says something intelligent ... both sen. john kennedy and nancy pelosi saw, way late, that impeachment was premised on a lie, and said so by announcing that it was time to get on to more pressing business. a rather narrow brush with truth for both of them, larger people would have said explicitly that the whole "impeachment" thing was premised upon layer after layer of lies, but, coming from democrats pretty amazing.
the henchmen. anddrew mccabe, james comey, and "walter" brennan are forever branded as pernicious liars, peddling falsehood after falsehood at every turn trying to paint trump as colluding with the russians. they lied about little things, they lied about big things, and they were as smug and obnoxious while doing it as any political operatives who ever drew breath.
who did they serve? hilary, of course, and served in league with mccain while doing so. may they collectively rot in hell.
the journalists. long after anyone with a brain had figured out that the "dossier" was a total and complete fabrication, and long after even the thinking impaired masses had figured out the whole thing was fabrication, the stentorian toned dulcet voices droned on painting trump with the liar's brush, and repeating baseless bullshit every chance they got.
the little viper stephanawfullness repeated the lame charges, and oozed the contempt of virtue, knowing full well the empty charges he leveled incessantly at trump. george f. will demonstrated time and again that he is simply the lap dog of sam and cokie, and should be regarded with utter contempt.
those who stand "relatively" tall. victor david hanson, thomas sowell and several others were voices in the wilderness cautioning a reasoned analysis as to what was going on, hanson coming to the party late and sowell seeing nonsense in the allegations from the very beginning: his is a steadfast intellect, to be sure.
in the meantime, and those who shall prevail in the aftermath .... i have to admit that i have been no admirer of mitch mcconnell during this whole sorry mess. but, during the height of the hysteria fanned by the media and the talking heads, he and trump have appointed good judges to the federal bench, and the skids are greased for even more federal judgeships to go to competent and conservative jurists.
trump and mcconnell have kept their gazes firmly fixed on the spoils of warfare, and on what should go down at trump's lasting legacy. they beat pelosi at her nastiest and most determined worst, and we may expect that same from them in the future. the little one cannot live forever, and we should have another trump appointment to the supreme court before this first term ends.
this will be the measure of the democrats failed attempt at "impeachment."
how low can they go? who knows. but, i think that the dem's continued attempts at perfidy will mark the destruction of "progressive democracy," and the end of the 1960's leadership. how much worse can sanders--a.o.c. take it? time will tell.

update 03.25.2019. donna brazille, she who slipped hillary the debate questions while functioning as a debate moderator, has been hired on by fox news, of all people. and, of all the media types. it just goes to show you how very deeply entrenched the progressive talking heads are in our governance, and how they will never be rooted out, no matter their corruption and dishonesty.
this is one of the downsides to prolonged dominance and sitting atop the political food chain .... sinners never ever pay for their sin. they are just rehabilitated, and go onto the payroll again, and again, and again.
and, in reading this post again, i think i let john mccain off too lightly. in my view, his final illness was not sufficient suffering to pay for all the ill he committed in a wasted life. he accomplished nothing in a life in which he was positioned to accomplish much. in boxing parlance, he may be viewed as punching way way way below his weight. a fat lightweight, as it were. a life spent entirely before an uncritical mirror. end update.
