why am i not writing .....

well, let me put it this way.--

i am not writing because i am reasonably satisfied that donald trump is governing skillfully and reasonably well. do i think him perfect? no, nor do i think him immune from some limited criticisms. but, for the things that he has done that i don't agree with, i think his motives fundamentally constructive and generally calculated to better the country, and to put it back on the right track.

so, donald trump, here is a heartfelt "attaboy!!" go to it, and get four more young people on the supreme court like scalia and gorsuch.

i did not feel that way when obama "governed." his was a genuine malevolence toward the majority of america, and a visceral dislike for our traditional beliefs and ways of governance. everything he did was calculated to abridge our rights, to permanently institutionalize socialized/communist rule, and to weaken our strategic might and influence in world geo-politics.

all of this was firmly grounded in two things: 1.)he is a marxist, and 2.)he is a muslim, and bent on promoting the interests and positions of islam in the world. you explain how the two go together in a coherent fashion. the best i can do is to note that islam is not so much a religion as it is a political tract on how a small elite rules a butt wipe ignorant populace. (some might consider this a "pejorative" observation about islam, but, it seems to me fact based on considered analysis and observation. and, it is consistent with how obama viewed most of you. think about that.)

i had to speak on this.

and, most of my writing was building a political & personal defense of and a case for taking armed insurrection to the streets to combat obama and the left, if need be. i don't feel the need to do this right now. (hint: i am not selling my guns.)

so, right now, i am as the fellow who has had a good supper, and is relaxing over a whiskey, coffee and a good cigar. but, i have the keyboard handy, as i have a rifle propped in the corner.

if need be, i am good to go and to write .... but, for right now, i will mostly stay quite. pamela geller (who i like and admire) and robert spencer (who analyzes & writes wonderfully, but i would not consider elk camp material) keep me posted on the world wide depredations and calculated advances of islam, and i am content to observe their efforts for the time being.

we will have to fight them for our country some day, but most of you will not wake to this fact. not yet, at any rate.

a fascinating personal family history .... a story from paul albers ....

paul albers and i correspond. we are of similar age, we share similar interests, and we both hold to the same opinion about getting older: it sucks, but, it beats the alternatives. he was bemoaning his inability to grow a decent beard, even though he is very german. i suggested that perhaps he wasn't as "german" as he thought.

i got this response from paul, and every time i read it, i enjoy it more. i asked him if i could publish it here, and he said, in essence, go ahead and do your worst. he asked only that i run it through the spell checker, and he asked if i also had a grammar checker. i said yes, to the spell checker, and noted that there seemed to be about 330,000,000 "grammar checkers" associated w/ blogging. just like nipples, everyone has at least two opinions on matters of grammar.

well, without further comment, here is paul alber's letter, for posterity.--

Well, here is the family history. The Albers came from Alsace Lorraine. Every time a war was fought that area changed hands. The “final” time was after WW2 when the French took it over. It switched from French to German depending on who won which war. I was told by my brother and dad that 5 brothers fled to the U.S. because they did not want to join and fight in the latest war. All five arrived in NY, but alas only four left. One brother disappeared and was never found. So when asked when two Albers meet are we related? The answer is, “probably.” When we came back from the U.K. we signed up with a Dr. Albers not far from the house. The doc and I swapped stories and came close to closing the loop, but never quite got there.

When WW1 broke out, Dad enlisted to go and fight and before he could board a troop ship he contracted that mysterious flu that killed so many people and he died.

1918. Now, if you do not believe that story stay tuned because I can top it.

Mom’s maiden name was Ungehuer. Can’t get more German than that. You probably know how it translates but if you don’t watch The Longest Day based on a book by Cornelius Ryan. Great book, great movie. Any way I digress. In the movie Rommel is strolling down the beach talking to his minions and speaking in German with subtitles. As it plays out one can hear Ungehuer and the first time I watched it the translation jumped out at me. Rommel is telling his staff that a MONSTER is across the water. My brother was right. Mom’s maiden name does translate to monster. Ungehuer (if I am spelling this correctly) does translate to monster. Now again you can’t get more German than that.

As far as my dad dying in WW1 he was pronounced dead by the Army and they tied the shipping tag around his big toe. His brother,my Uncle Joe, refused to believe the diagnosis. As the story goes Uncle Joe took out a half pint of whisky and poured it down his throat. Dad came up coughing. He was discharged from the Army and lived happily ever after. When he died in the 60’s my brother came in to the possession of the tag.

So, no Arrows, Tomahawks and I have taken no scalps and can hang with the best of them in picking them up full and putting them down empty. Scots excluded.

well, there it is. for some odd reason, paul insists upon using caps and decent punctuation. i have tried to use the spell checker, and i will not alter the way it is written. i like writing that reflects the spoken word, with the rhythm and inflection of the voice. paul's writing does that just fine, and i am not gonna mess with it.

the pretentiously conscientious .... the unconscious consciousness ....

i suppose the outstanding example of this would be prince charles parading his environmental responsibility (and sensibility) posed before his bentley, powered by alcohol distilled from the less drinkable brandies produced on his estates. if you don't understand the point of this, you have no need to read any further, nothing i can say will lend you comprehension.

today i drove through the grounds of my old alma mater, whitman college, the flagship of contemporary college sensibilities on social and civic responsibility, and stewardship of the environment. the curbs were crowded w/ nary a parking space available with the latest in japanese automotive technology, with a smattering of the teutonic efforts toward same, and the parking lots absolutely filled with cars. as i neared birch creek road and powerline, two guppy vans full of students marked "whitman college" pulled through the intersection stuffed full of college students "immersed" in nature for the morning, heading back to campus.

early i glanced up the roadway to spot a tall bald headed man riding a bicycle in the rain, wearing about $400 of rain gear, meandering down the lane of travel oblivious to the doom that hurtled towards him at 55 per, his head down, riding "with no hands," reading a cell phone he held between both hands. but for him to look up, and the dullest sensibility would have taken in the sodden verdant foothills of the blue mountains, resplendent in green with the fresh growth of winter wheat, snow still in the higher foothills behind them, and in the mountains behind. but, the cell phone held him transfixed, instead of my grill, as i apprehended him in time.

how pretty are the blues? well, ireland pretty, i would suppose the easiest way to describe them. i once told a friend of mine, preparing for her annual sojourn to miami (and the beach) to visit her sister, that god would not be with her this visit. and, why is that, she inquired? i explained to her that god could not be in miami, because he was in residence in the walla walla valley that year, taking in the marvels of his creation.

as for my own pretensions in such/other matters? well, i am as i am. that being imperfect. but, i do think that i have the god given good sense not to run my bentley on alcohol distilled from my shitty brandy. (as if ... .)

which raises the question. how could someone produce so much shitty brandy? you'd think that they would starve, from want of anyone who would drink the crap. and, if it were good brandy, you would think that no one could ever admire the spendthrift who would distill it to drive his car. home, jeeves!!!

the demise of google chrome (on my laptop), and a "dead battery" comes to life .... coinkydinky?

i have an hp pavilion dv6000 laptop which is about 12 or 13 years old, as near as i can figure. it has gone through numerous software permutations, that last of which has been windows vista, which is no longer marketed nor supported by windows. (it's kind of like gm saying, hey, we don't make it any more, you cannot buy parts for it from us. gm, btw, is not that cheeky. microsoft is, but, not gm.)

well, microsoft told us that years ago. and, google has announced some time ago that google chrome will not support vista. that's bad enough, but, they incessantly put a banner across a page saying that, and saying, buy something that will support chrome.

well, enough is enough. and, enough of google's pissy attitude is too damned much to put up with. so, i uninstalled google chrome from the lap top, and now i am going with mozilla fire fox until it no longer updates, which is gonna be soon.

and, something kinda odd happened. the laptop battery, heretofore inoperable and flat out refusing to take a charge, has now decided to take a charge and operate. this is being typed on battery power, and the battery "fuel gauge" is holding relatively steady. i don't happen to believe in coincidence, so i am assuming that there is a causal connection between google chrome's death, and the rebirth of my battery it is, after all, sequential, and most probably related.

there must have been something in google chrome's default settings that put the kibosh on the battery, and now that it is gone, the battery is back. i haven't a clue.

any of you out in the real world where fiddling with one's computer is an every day fact of life, have any ideas what the causal connection is, and where it lies? i would be mildly interested to know what it is, and i would like to learn how to address it, so that i can promptly disregard the new found knowledge and slip back into blissful ignorance. (this is also the war i wage w/ passwords, the damned bother and nuisance of the things .... another worthless "protection" to mess with, that any hacker worth his salt can be around in about 10 seconds anyway.)

but, i am mildly curious about this.

service 2017, u.s. post office style ....

u.p.s. picks it up from the shipper 04.01.2017 at 1.38 a.m. in columbus, missouri. u.p.s. delivers the package to the united states post office in fife, washington on 04.03.2017 at 2.31 a.m.

the u.s. post office delivers the package to the united states post office in portland, oregon ("the black hole" of shipping, as i like to call it) on 04.03.2017 at 9.43 a.m., and the portland, oregon post office "accepts delivery" on the same date, at 4.00 p.m.

6 hours and 17 minutes for the portland, oregon post office to figure out that it has my package.

so, in sum, the package moves from columbus, missouri via kansas city, missouri via fife washington to portland, oregon in three days.

and, there, in the portland, oregon post office my package has resided for four (4) days, until today's date, 04.07.2017 without budging a single inch, so far as i can tell. on 04.06.2017 at 05.31 pm, 5.36 pm and 5.37 pm, and 04.07.2017 11.22 am and 11.27 am the package has been processed "for shipment." there is no indication in the "tracking data" whatsoever that the package has departed the portland, oregon office of the united states post.

so, let me see. united parcel service moves the package from point of origin in columbus, missouri to fife, washington in three days. the united states post office, by contrast, has moved my package from fife, washington to portland, oregon in 4 days. and, no package in the mail this afternoon.

my guess is that i will receive the package either monday or tuesday afternoon.

you leftists out there, to the extent that any of you read "enemy communiques" should keep this in mind, hell bent for election as you are for the imposition of governmental tyranny. if you intend to impose it, you had better contract it out to private enterprise, lest you never get anyone shot behind the ear in a dank, dark, dreary dripping wet basement in an expeditious fashion.

i will keep you posted on this little saga, of the package that wore out before it got delivered.

update, 04.08.2017. received by the u.s. post office milton freewater, oregon at 7.50 am. package sorted by the post office milton freewater, oregon at 8.16 am. package out for delivery milton freewater, oregon at 8.26 am and i anticipate that tony will deliver to my porch somewhere around 2.00 pm, as i am about midway in his daily route. steve would deliver on weekdays, but he is coaching the girls softball team on this rainy day. tony will cover. end update.

in sum, two days from columbus missouri to portland, oregon. five days from portland, oregon to milton freewater, oregon.

she ordered and directed the u.s. intelligence apparatus to spy on trump, to gather intelligence on him, and to listen into his private phone conversations with friends and campaign aides, right up to the point of his inauguration.

two observations on the purported link between trump and the rooskies ....

1.) the democrats are totally full of shit. a.)comey says so. b.) http://www.americanlibertyreport.com/articles/democrats-admit-trump-russia-collusion-is-fake-finally/ . the chief demo architect of the lie says it is going nowhere, and is not going to go anywhere. give it a rest, best describes his attitude. i say, prosecute the son of a bitch.

2.) the republican "never trump" mccainites are full of shit. a.)this means you, mitch mcconnel & paul ryan. b.)the republicans who attack trump are absolute and complete cowards. during the entire reign of barack obama they were absolutely and totally afraid to say a damned thing about him, as they feared his his retribution. now they attack trump on the most specious horseshit ever dreamed up by anyone. this proves, absolutely, that trump is a decent and honorable man, because the republicans do not fear retribution from him politically. they are liberated, as it were, to show their "big swinging" dicks in public again. to show their power, their strength, their courage, after being servile lickspittles for the past 8 years. they are absolutely beneath contempt. the purest word for them is "shitheads."

(not to mention ignorant & simple minded.)

fact. at the time she ordered the spying susan rice was national security adviser to president barak obama. in short, for all factual, legal and political considerations she acted in the person of barak obama and in his name. she was barak obama. in the law we call someone acting in her capacity as acting with actual, apparent and ostensible authority to act in the name of her principle, and her principle is responsible for that actions of an agent with such authority. (look it up. ask someone you respect, who knows something of the law. look it up in the "restatements of agency.") someday, someone should actually require that reporters be educated in such matters.
