not too long ago, in the distant recesses of public memory, a man named lavoy finicum and members of the bundy family peacefully occupied an abandoned building on the malheur national wildlife refuge. while examining files in that building they discovered that one of the reasons the bureau of land management and the wildlife refuge sought to obtain land belonging to a family named hammond, was so that the government could obtain the uranium deposits upon & underneath their land.
they brought phonied up charges against the hammonds, and a federal judge ordered them to pay court costs (a lot) and a large fine, some $300,000 if i remember correctly off the top of my head. for burning 17 acres of scrub ceder, an invasive species, burned elsewhere in oregon as a nuisance species. the hammonds, father and son, went to federal prison for this.
ammon bundy and family and associates seized the property on the malheur national wildlife refuge in protest. they harmed no one. they damaged no property in any major sense, that i am aware of. lavoy finicum became a spokesman for the occupiers, and achieved some notice and notoriety doing this.
this infuriated governor kate brown of oregon, a lesbian, and a left winger of long standing. she had a hissy fit over this, and instructed the oregon state police to apprehend the bundy's and finicum, and insisted to the f.i.b. that they do something about it to. she said the occupation was costing the state of oregon enormous sums of money.
this is bullshit. what she wanted was to help cover the sale of the rights to the uranium to be seized to the government to a canadian firm, w/ ties to the soviet intelligence bureaucracy. hillary clinton, by the way, engineered this sale with husband bill, and made millions by a sale of american strategic assets to russia.
one day, traveling from burns, oregon to john day, oregon finicum driving a truck and his friends were stopped at an illegal road bloack by agents of the oregon state police in the form of a heavily armed swat team, and agents of the fbi in the form of another swat team. before finicum's truck came to a stop in a snow bank along the road, trying to go around the end of the road block, shots were fired by the fbi into the cab of the pickup, and while the occupants sat in it, more shots were fired to intimidate them, along with smoke bombs and high explosive noise bombs were set off around the truck.
lavoy finicum got out ot the truck, stumbled in the snow, and his arms dropped. he was gunned down at point blank range by an oregon state patrolman who had been stationed in the woods, for just such purpose. as he lay dying in the snow, his arms outstretched above his head, more shots were fired into his prone body. some minutes after he lay in the snow, most likely dead, agents approached him to find that he had no gun in his hands, although the was armed with a pistol in a shoulder holster.
the police and the fbi lied about the circumstances of the stop, and denied firing the initial shots into the cab of the pickup. this lie was exposed by eyewitness accounts in the truck, dismissed by the media in oregon, until a recording of the event on a cell phone was released to the public: a woman in the truck had filmed the stop, including sound and statements made by the "police" officers.
the media called the bundy's and finicum domestic terrorists. little lefties all over oregon, most likely those who are rioting in portland and eugene right now, applauded finicum's death. in the name of conservation, birds, bees and bugs they trumpeted that he got exactly what he deserved.
some of the occupiers plead guilty to phonied up charges of interfering with government operation, or some such bullshit. not one felony was charged against any of them, ... , what they had done to the federal government was essentially tantamount to trespass. again, not one felony count was charged against any of them.
when finicum was "apprehended" and killed he had no outstanding felony charges brought against him, nor any outstanding felony warrants. yet the oregon state police and the federal investigation bureau used what is called a "dead man's stop" to apprehend him such a stop being illegal in the absence of an ongoing felony or a suitable violent act.
in the aftermath of finicum's killing, the fib agents lied about firing shots at the finicum vehicle before it came to a stop, and lied about and tried to hide evidence of who had fired the shots. to the best of my knowledge they are under suspension, though who can trust and who gives a shit what the fib says anymore.
kate brown essentially ordered finicum shot, and it was done on a lonely stretch of road between burns, oregon and john day, oregon. he died lying in the snow, never having drawn a gun, and with his hands up except for a few gestures where he reached down below his shoulders, .... , whether to regain his balance as he stood on the snow with about 8 or 9 guns trained on him, or whether he had decided to go down fighting. we'll never know. we'll see what a jury does about that.
following all of this, ammon bundy and those of his fellows were acquited of all charges in a show trial befitting the old soviet union, when the jury found the prosecution's case sorely lacking. several jurors said later that the prosecution case, months in the making, was inadequate. in short, the charges were trumped up by the department of justice, and the proof of guilt was entirely lacking.
lavoy finicum was killed for trying to get around a road block, when and after the f.i.b. opened fire as he approached. he was killed. in my view after 25 years of practicing law, both prosecuting and defending officers against unlawful force suits, and many years as a public defender spending hours every day in a court room, he was killed without legal justification. in my view, under the facts of the case and watching the film of his death, conveniently filmed from above by a helicopter over the scene, finicum did nothing to deserve being killed.
was his behavior smart? no. should he have gotten out of the truck and fallen on his face? yes. did he choose wisely? no. were the oregon state partol and the f.i.b. justified in opening fire on him after using an illegal road block? and, in shooting him, point blank, and firing more killing shots into his prone body, hands outstretched above his body? hell, no, not in 10,000 years were they justified in shooting him.
this was ordered and set in motion by governor kate brown.
the same kate brown who has done nothing to quell rioting and arson by a bunch of asshole rioters in portland, oregon who claim to protest the election of donald trump as president of the united states. do they claim election fraud, vote tampering or interference with the rights of other to vote. hell no. they are pissed because they are socialists and communists, and they lost a free election, so they burn and riot in portland.
and, kate brown sits on her elbows with both hands shoved squarely up her ass, doing nothing.
this, my friends, is a travesty. the execution of a man who had committed no felony, and had no outstanding felony warrants, and who had damaged no property, as contrasted to persons who have destroyed and burned property, is what is going on right now in the people's republic of oregon.
all to cover up a land grab, so the environmentalists at the malheur national wildlife refuge could mine uranium ore to sell to the russians. and, wouldn't you know it, hillary clinton was right in the middle of it, skimming money.
one wonders how much kate brown, and the malheur county commissioners got out of the uranium sale? i don't know if they got any. but, one wonders. what was so important about any of the whole "occupation" that lavoy finicum had to die.
