argentine prosecutor nisman likely was killed by a professional hit.
to my mind, the only "disquieting" aspect relative to this proposition is the "discovery" of a 26 page draft of a warrant application found in his garbage during the investigation of his death. this is, in some respects, an "act" quite congruent with a man who has given a major portion of his life to something, only to conclude he has fallen short of the mark (in proving kirchner's involvement in the jewish center bombing), so he ends it all.
well, maybe.
trying to understand the motivations lying behind a suicide is tricky. a lot of times suicide is quite aggressive, and aimed at punishing those who may/might/will feel guilt over the death of another at his own hand. it is hard to see that here.
and, there is physical evidence that suggests this sort of intellectual endeavor is a waste of time.
paramount is the pathology of the wound that killed nisman. his autopsy established that he was not shot in the temple, as initially reported, but that the entrance wound was behind his ear, perhaps slightly above it, by about 2". in addition, the trajectory of the bullet was somewhat upwards, while going roughly straight across his brain. now, it is not impossible to hold a gun in such a manner as to accomplish this sort of trajectory, but it is not easy, either, and is certainly not "comfortable."
in short, if you are bent on taking your own life, to position a gun in such a manner is a bit unlikely, given that their are much easier ways to position it ... such as at the temple, or under the chin.

in addition, clarin reports that nisman did not own the gun involved, but, to my mind that is neither here nor there, as guns are easy to come by. i'll not cite that article, you can find it easily enough if you are interested in this aspect of it.
now, i am a bit of a gun bug. so, there is something about this that interests me, in fact, that tips the scales suggesting murder to me, and that is the caliber of the weapon. if clarin is correct, and the autopsy is correct, nisman was killed by a .22 long rifle weapon.
http://www.clarin.com/politica/nisman-peritaje-bala_0_1297070341.html
it seems to me that this caliber weapon, .22 long rifle, is the sort of weapon consistent with the style of a killer. it is a small caliber weapon, and not very likely to make sufficient nose upon firing as to attract attention from neighbors and the like. and, it is tidy. it won't make much of a mess, and it is very likely not to splatter the user of the weapon with blood, or other bodily tissue and genetic markers such as will tie the wielder to the crime scene. likewise, it is not likely to leave much residue from the burning of the gun powders involved, as would a larger weapon.
in sum, a .22 long rifle doesn't generate nor does it leave behind much evidence. and, it allows a careful killer to use the weapon, leave it behind, and within a few steps from the crime scene to simply walk away without attracting any attention at all.
and, there is the matter of looking at the weapon from prosecutor nisman's perspective.
if you are worried about being personally attacked in your residence you probably do not have a .22 long rifle caliber pistol to do it, you are more likely to have a 9mm parabellum at your disposal, and if you are really serious about it, you are going to have a .45 acp pistol, quite likely a colt 1911 or an argentinian version of the colt, extraordinarily popular with the argentine military and the argentine civil police departments. i do not know, but it would not surprise me if argentinian prosecutors were still issued the same. (the argentine govt. arsenals made them, as did private firms, and you may even yet buy them as surplus goods in the united states.)
nor would you likely contemplate using a .22 long rifle pistol in the commission of your own death. for one, they are not 100% likely to kill you instantly. and, there is another reason, adverted to above. and, that is, most suicides seek to aggressively "hurt" those close to the person killing himself, and that person can vindictively seek to kill himself in the messiest way possible, e.g., big powerful caliber wounds to the head, that splash blood and gore all over the walls and ceilings, and leave the victim sprawled dead on the floor bleeding blood and brain tissue.
it is a form of terrorism imposed upon the close survivors to the dead person. it is designed to hurt them, as much as possible. it is not done by a body lying on the floor with a nice neat little hole in the head, and very little bleeding. in short, suicides are not fastidious affairs, but replete with gore.
i don't see prosecutor nisman killing himself with a .22 long rifle pistol, for the reasons stated above. no, the use of a .22 long rifle pistol is consistent with the aims of a professional killer, who wanted to distance himself from the crime scene as quickly as possible, and who wished to have no physical evidence from that crime scene attached to his person. no blood splatter, no other tissue or genetic information attached to either his person or his clothing.
to me, the gun involved says murder, and not suicide.
