prosecutor nisman bolstered his investigation into the cover up of the 1994 bombing of a jewish cultural center in buenos aires with many hours of tape recorded conversations between those suspected of being behind the bombing.
he felt the conversations pointed to the sitting president of argentina, christina kirchner, and considering seeking a warrant for her arrest. he was to have testified before the argentine congress.
he never made it. he "got dead" before he could appear. he was found in his bathroom, dead from a single gunshot wound to the head.
(i think the "hit" professional, from the way it was done to the weapon used. see this link, http://wintersoldier2008.typepad.com/summer_patriot_winter_sol/2015/02/who-killed-nisman-signs-point-to-a-professional-hit-the-caliber-of-the-weapon-.html .)
so, where are the tapes? why are they (apparently) not being examined?
this excerpt from an article at the guardian is most interesting.--
the head of argentinian intelligence was replaced in december, resulting in the firing of agents who had been helping with nisman’s investigation. nisman had accused agents from another faction within the state intelligence apparatus of being part of fernández’s alleged plot to clear the iranian suspects.
one of those fired in the december shakeup was antonio stiusso, a senior spy who had helped nisman with the probe.
the government says stiusso falsely told nisman that two men implicated in the case against the president were state intelligence agents. wiretapped phone conversations of the two were key to nisman’s accusation that the government was trying to whitewash the 1994 car bombing.
president fernández [kirchner:jjj] said on thursday that she did not believe nisman took his own life.
“nisman’s accusation never was, in itself, the true operation against the government ... the true operation against the government was his death, after accusing the government,” she said in a post on facebook.
those close to the late prosecutor have doubted from the beginning that he killed himself. friends described him as upbeat ahead of his scheduled appearance before congress on monday.

[does christina kirchner's "exposition" of things come a bit afoul of ockham's razor? she assume the death of nisman is murder, but adds another layer of complexity of motive over and above the suspicions laid at her feet because she was a target of nisman's investigations. and, she wants us to assume that the intel agent, stiusso misled nisman for 10 years, from 2004 to 2014, without arousing his suspicions. i am not a logician, and this is all very messy, but it does seem that kirchner seeks to add a needless layer of complexity to the puzzle, and to deflect suspicion that might otherwise be directed at her, by claiming stiusso acted against her. interesting. any ockham's razor people out there?]
it would seem that those wiretap tapes would be key to the investigation. so, where are the tapes, and in whose custody are they? it will be very interesting to see if and when those tapes ever materialize. it will be more interesting if they somehow disappear. (barack obama, of course, would seal them by presidential order. does mrs. kirchner have the brass to do that?) if they disappear, i believe it safe to assume that nisman was closing in on his quarry, and that his "quarry" silenced him, or had him silenced. in my view, that would be the sitting president of argentina. in the view of the sitting president of argentina, it would be the very intelligence people who were "helping" nisman for ten years, ... , e.g., she says he would have been a foil of a plot directed against her by the intelligence people. interesting.
my guess is that more bodies will be found littering the streets, before all this "clears up" or is "resolved." where is john le carre now that we really need him? this really would make an interesting le carre novel. (sort of makes you wonder just how "novel" le carre's books were, does it not?)
