for reasons which elude me, the more thoroughly and rigorously one sets out ones premises and arguments, no matter how ably, the more thoroughly and rigorously, and ably, others ignore you.
i don't know why. i don't loose a lot of sleep over it. it just seems to be the case.
i do know this, or i think i do, or i have convinced myself to believe that i know this, take your pick, ..... , before a person or a reader can be convinced to pay attention to something, to learn something that might in fact & belief change that person's world view, he has to want to change his world view.
when he wants to change his world view, then he will entertain those facts, arguments and tactics of persuasion that might do so. but, not until then.

p.s. the mind is a powerful engine. but, it entertains only that which it has decided to entertain. until that point, all efforts to change a mind remain largely extraneous to its workings, its existence.
beats the hell out of me.
My guess, chuckling, is that the core of the point is what you typed,
"he has to want to change his world view"
A quote attributed to Julius Ceasar is,
"men willingly believe what they want to"
which is the point of what you typed, obviously, but it takes effort to think openly, most people would rather watch the boob tube or argue whatever the point is just to be contrary or because of ego, or whatever reason they choose.
I've been reading and sometimes commenting for several years, as you know, and I appreciate that you've helped me to improve my ability in critical thinking.
