some few less than 239 person died when the hijacked airliner ascended to 45,000 feet, well above its operational ceiling. (some time on the old flight simulator to figure out how to carry that off without a hitch, eh what?)
that's a lot of dead bodies, and they have to be disposed of. certainly, far too many to push out the back doors of the plane while it was underway. so, wherever the plane landed, there were more than 230 dead people to get buried.
in a rather large trench.
were i an intel photo analyst, i would be looking for a landing sight well ".... away from the madding crowd ...," and a burial trench right next to it. i would look for it at dawn and at dusk, to catch the shadows of the excavation debris, and i would look for an orientation to the sun that would make it most difficult to see.
if not that, then i would look for a high concentration of heavy equipment (in order to dig and cover the trench as quickly as possible), in and out of a place where a plane could land.
my guess is, the pilot had the flight simulator at home, so that he could practice the procedures to shut down the systems that pressurize the passenger cabins, and also to come in on a very low very high speed approach, so as to get the plane out of the reach of satellite photography as quickly as possible.
and, as long as the strip were remote, and had hanger space large enough to hold the plane, i would regard it as a likely destination. look for the bodies, next to such a strip. and, look for hangars recently constructed, in odd ball places, large enough to hold a boeing 777.

p.s. one of the live links below has the "thinking" of a u.s. house "intelligence" member, to the effect that the plane is "at the bottom of the ocean." what "an ultra maroon," as bugs bunny would say. if the hijackers had wanted to put the plane in the ocean, they could have done that anywhere. but, they did not, .... , the conclusion is inescapable, that what they wanted was the airplane. first, they went to 45,000 feet and killed all the passengers, and then they went low to escape detection.
they were after the airplane. they got the airplane, from all appearances, and all rational conclusions arrived at by inference and/or deduction from observable physical fact, of which "there ain't none."
what a dolt. the chairman of the house intelligence committee. now, there, as bill buckley would have said, is an oxymoron. i am not fancy. just plain old "moron" will do for me.
