wazzup libya? gadhafi forces fight back, no. 2 ... they don't know the fat lady has sung?

kadhafi/gadhafi (the spellings of his name change faster than a baby's diapers) and his henchmen seem to be putting up stiffer resistance to the "former rebel" attacks in bani walid and sirte.

the lamestream media reports heavy fighting, in both towns, and the "former rebels" are frustrated by the resistance.  and, there is frustration and dissent and argument among the "ranks" of the rag tag attacking forces, which really haven't much notion of what they are up to in a military sense.

and, the gadhafi forces are not melting away, are not vanishing from the fighting, and are apparently having much success in repelling the rebel advances.

the article talks of heavy fire, including rockets from both sides.  a doctor who is quoted prominently in the article claims to have received perhaps two dead combatants over the course of the day, and a smattering of wounded.

this has continued to amaze me, that a war could be fought of this "intensity" as described by the media, yet no one is killed or wounded, relative to the casualties one would expect in intense infantry fighting.

the rebels are said to have brought up a tank, ... , as in one tank, ... , to join the battle at bani walid.  where did all the tanks and artillery pieces that gadhafi had in his military go?  i wonder over the apparent fact that none of the tanks shown to have been "captured" in tripoli have been put into battle by the "former rebels:" perhaps they were not fit for battle, perhaps there is no ammunition, (though they would make good portable machine gun nests), or perhaps there is no one to drive them or operate the guns.  who knows?

this whole thing continues to mystify me.

the nature of the fighting is odd, the lack of casualties is odd given the "intensity" of the "battles" depicted by the press, and why gadhafi could muster effective resistance in bani walid and sirte but not in tripoli is most curious.

no n.a.t.o. bombardment? 

the local mosques are supportive of gadhafi's regime?  the tribesmen are loyal to gadhafi?

it is all rather curious as to why gadhafi's forces have suddenly become effective (though not at actually killing anyone in combat), and those of the "former rebels" suddenly ineffective.

to my mind, it has yet to be demonstrated that the "former rebels" have struck gadhafi's regime a fatal blow, and i suspect that if anyone is to do it, it will be nato air power.   and, if that is not done relatively quickly, are we to see a renewal of combat in tripoli as gadhafi's forces attack the "government?"  he now knows, doesn't he, who's been naughty and who's been nice.

how secure are the oil fields that the french need as life's blood itself, in all this?  it does not have the feel of a battle that is over.  and, the forces of the "former rebels" seem to be falling into horrible disarray.

well, i have seen the little munchkin sing on the television.

my emotions are mixed.  on the one hand, i feel like very highly redundant bio mass.  on the other hand, what a supreme pleasure to hear the beauty another human being can create by nothing more than her voice.  the purity, power and timbre of that voice, out of that little slip of a girl.  clearly, it is not over until the little girl sings.

she is enchanting, and it brings tears to listen to her: to smile and cry at the same time, very interesting set of emotions.  just captivating.  sort of makes one proud to be a human, even redundant bio mass can appreciate the sublime.

my guess is this.--

nato will give the amateurs a couple rounds, see if the "former rebels" can pull it off all by themselves and run daffy out of libya.  failing that, and without the nato air strikes, i doubt very much the "former rebels" could kick a drunk out of a tough bar, i think nato will simply come in and bomb the stink out of the gadhafi loyalists.

collateral damage can go take a hike.

nato, read france, is in desperate need of a free flow of libyan oil, saudia arabia being too far away to attack for france's reach.  (they'd have to admit the u.s. was doing the heavy lifting, now, wouldn't they.)  so, libya it is.

and, libya it will be, by gum.  and, libyan oil it will be, by golly.

so, quacks daffily will have another nip at the dish, but, his days are numbered before allied/nato air strikes put his last little redoubts of resistance out of business, ... , as in, blown all to hell.

911 ... the difference between "then" and "now" ...

to me, there is no difference between "then" and "now" as regards the attack upon the world trade center's twin towers on september 11, 2001.

the jihad attack upon us is ongoing.  the matter is ongoing.  revenge has not been exacted, islam remains insufferable, and the conflict between islam & its jihad and the institutions and peoples of the west is as savage today as it ever has been.

islamic jihad remains the unruly child who has taken his hissy outside the confines of his sandbox.

islam needs to be put back into its sandbox.  let the idiot child play with his camels and falcons, and drive his mercedes sedan down the oil coated sand tracks of his roads.  just put islam back into the sandbox, by any means necessary.  i don't particularly care if they are proper.

it is as simple as that.

and, as long as this issue remains open, my wounds remain open.

hey, islamic rage boy, did you know the koran says it is the scripture of moses, only in arabic? ... that to have salvation a person does not have to be muslim ... and, that to be a muslim is not protection from the pit, for evils done ...

in sura 46, "the sand dunes," addresses its arguments against disbelievers who assert that mohammed "... has invented ..." the koran, verse 8, the implication of the disbelievers being that the revelation does not flow from god.

to meet these assertions, god instructs mohammed in the sura to answer the disbelievers as follows:

9.  say, "i am nothing new among god's messengers.  i do not know what will be done with me or you; i only follow what is revealed to me; i only warn plainly."

10.  say, "have you thought: what if this qur'an really is from god and you reject it?  what if one of the children of israel testifies to its similarity [to earlier scripture] and believes in it, and yet you are too proud to [do the same]?  god certainly does not guide evildoers."

11.  those who disbelieve say of the believers, "if there were any good in this qur'an, they would not have believed in it before we did," and, since they refuse to be guided by it, they say, "this is ancient fiction."

12.  yet the scripture of moses was revealed bfore it as a guide and a mercy, and this is a scripture confirming it in the arabic language to warn those who do evil and bring good news for those who do good.  

13.  for those who say, "our lord is god," and then follow the straight path there is no fear, nor shall they grieve:  14.  they are the people of paradise, there to remain as a reward for what they were doing.

well, this is really quite extraordinary.--  

1.)  in verse 10, mohammed argues that the scripture revealed to him can be verified and legitimized if a jew testifies to its similarity to scripture revealed by moses in hebrew to the jewish people.  in verse 12, mohammed argues that the scripture of the koran was revealed first by moses in antiquity, and that the koran is the same scripture as revealed by moses only it is given by god via gabriel in the arabic language, so that it may be clearly understood. 

put simply, mohammed turns to the jews to validate the koran, as he has received it in arabic.

as i read the above passages no other conclusion can be reached.  it is as simple as that.

2.)  in verses 13 & 14 there is the clear intimation that for those jews who follow the straight path of the koran, and to follow the straight path of the laws as laid down by moses is to follow the koran because the koran is the law of moses only stated in arabic, there is salvation and paradise which awaits.  what else can the phrase "... this is a scripture confirming it ... " mean, "it" clearly referring to the scripture as revealed by moses?

 

in sura 45, "kneeling," mohammed again addresses the disbelievers, and in language which is quite explicit clearly intimates that salvation awaits those who follow the straight path of god's revelation, ... , and that such salvation is not ruled out for the jews.

i find the following passages from the sura, "kneeling," to be quite revealing:

14.  tell the believers to forgive those who do not fear god's days [of punishment]-- he will not requite people for what they have done.  15.  whoever does good benefits himself, and whoever does evil harms himself; you will all be returned to your lord.

16.  we gave scripture, wisdom, and prophethood to the children of israel; we provided them with good things and favoured them above others;  17.  we gave them clear proof in matters [of religion].  they differed among themselves out of mutual rivalry, only after knowledge came to them: on the day of resurrection your lord will judge between them regarding their differences.  18.  now we have set you [muhammed] on a clear religious path, so follow it.***  do not follow the desires of those who lack [true] knowledge--  19.  they cannot help you against god in any way.  wrongdoers only have each other to protect them; the righteous have god himself as their protector.

20.  this [revelation] is a means of insight for people, a source of guidance and mercy for those of sure faith.

21.  do those who commit evil deeds really think that we will deal with them in the same way as those who believe and do righteous deeds, that thy will be alike in their living and their dying?  how badly they judge!  22.  god created the heavns and earth for a true purpose: to reward each soul according to its deeds . they will not be wronged.

***  you should be reminded, that "... the clear religious path ... " sent to mohammed, the straight path which leads to salvation on the day of resurrection/the day of judgment, is the law as revealed by god to moses, subsequently communicated by god to mohammed, as the same scripture.  

it is the same scripture, if you will but remember from the passages above.

the same scripture.

whether believed by jews, by christians, by muslims, ... , it is the same scripture.  and, not merely by my assertion or argument, but as revealed by and as the word of god.

it applies to all men, who shall obey it.

and, it protects all men, "... who shall not be wronged ..." by its misapplication.  it says so quite clearly.

those islamic jihadists who kill indiscriminately should keep something in mind.  "god created the heavens and earth for a true purpose: to reward each soul according to its deeds."   and, god has said, that in exercising such judgment as between believers and disbelievers, and as between contending believers who have fallen into discord, "they will not be wronged."

if not by god, then certainly not by man.

on the day of resurrection jews will be judged for their adherence to the path of the laws as laid down by moses, on the very same basis that muslims will be judged for their adherence to the path of the scripture revealed by mohammed.

simple as that, seems to me.  child's play, really.

 

i think that muslims who carry out islamic jihad in the name of the koran against infidels, jews in particular, without any further justification commit murder, according to islam.  those muslims who have killed innocents purely for shock and horror and to intimidate will be judged by god, and found barbaric and depraved, and that they shall be confined to the fire.

they, and the imams and ayatollahs and politicians who incited and aided & abetted them.

how do i know this?  because the koran tells me so.

so far, in my reading of the koran, i can see absolutely no theological justification in the koran for wanton, indiscriminate killing by muslims meant to horrify, especially as that killing applies to the killing of innocents and children.

not when such persons who are the victims of such killing follow the path as laid down by the laws of moses, and not perforce when such victims follow the path and the laws of god as revealed by god to mohammed in the koran.

the scripture of moses is the scripture of the koran.  whether followed by jews, christians or muslims.

how do i know?  the koran tells me so.

i don't need no stinkin' badges, and i don't need no stinkin' imam or ayatollah or some other piss ant islamic cleric to tell me what i read.  they worship idols, which "they have invented for themselves," and for their political purposes.  they worship the graven images of violence and hate.  they worship themselves.

there is no abrogation by mohammed's revelation, no change to the torah and gospels by his prophesy.  i say that with some authority, because according to the koran i speak with the authority of god.

there is one scripture, and one scripture only, and it is god's.

islam holds this, if only muslims will read.--

thus, from sura 41, "verses made clear."

40.  those who distort the meaning of our message are not hidden from us.  … .  do whatever you want, god certainly sees everything you do.  41.  those who reject the qur’an when it come to them—though it is an unassailable scripture 

42.  which falsehood cannot touch from any angle, a revelation sent down from the wise one, worthy of all praise--  43.  [should remember that] you [prophet] are not told anything that the previous messengers were not told: your lord is a lord of forgiveness, but also of painful punishment.

45.  we gave the scripture to moses but disputes arose about it—if it were not for a decree that had already been issued from your lord, they would already have been judged—and still they are doubtful and suspicious of it.

god says quite clearly that mohammed is told nothing not established in the scripture by previous revelation.  and, there is that word again, “scripture” used to the exclusion of the word scriptures which dictates that the scripture is a unity and not a series of god’s relations.

as if to show this by way of example, verse 45 mentions moses.

this is, you should forgive the expression, quite revealing to my way of thinking.

it is so because of god’s continuing turbulent relation to the jews of the torah, or, old testament if you prefer.  if you will remember the stories in the bible, you will remember that god talked personally with the hebrews, and though he sometimes dictated and issued edicts, more often he bargained and cajoled to obtain and impose his will.

so it was with abraham, on numerous occasions.  the night before god destroyed sodom and gomorrah, for instance, two angels visited abraham and told him of their task.  (the way i read the passage, suggests that god was one of the visitors.  well, little matter, it is either god or his emissaries.)

now, we may believe that god is firm in his decision, presumably not taking such matters lightly.

abraham and family are informed that sodom’s doom may be averted if a certain number of honest souls & devout souls are found in its confines.  abraham thinks the number arbitrary and unfair, and suggests and argues for a smaller number.  and, proceeds to argue and bargain with god!!

abraham suggests that the number be lowered to 50 righteous souls, and then bargains god and/or his emissaries down to 10 such persons in number.

well, to make a story short, the visitors travel to lot’s house, and destroy the city the next day after arriving, not having found even 10 righteous persons to save the city.

and, thus it was with moses and the jews.  on several occasions, god instructed that census be taken in preparation of the destruction of the jews, and on several occasions moses interceded with god, and bargained with him to avoid such a disaster.

so, yes, god is a jealous and vengeful god when he gets his nose in a twist.  but, he is also capable of great patience and forbearance, and forgiveness.

nothing in the koran, which places a lot of emphasis upon god’s wrath and the imposition of harsh judgment, changes any of this, and nothing in the koran articles either the scripture or the accounts of things in the torah and the new testament.

41.  those who reject the qur’an when it come to them—though it is an unassailable scripture 

42.  which falsehood cannot touch from any angle, a revelation sent down from the wise one, worthy of all praise--  43.  [should remember that] you [prophet] are not told anything that the previous messengers were not told:

so, it should be remembered that mohammed is told nothing not already related to previous prophets/messengers, and already related in the scripture of the torah and the gospels.

my point is simple.

and, established by the koran itself.

there is nothing in the koran that countermands or abrogates that which has been related previously in the first two testaments of the bible, the torah and the gospels, and there are no instructions in the bible which are not binding upon muslims the same as those contained in the koran.

in short, the koran is not authority for muslims to be killing anyone.

the ten commandments bind muslims, and inform them, the same as christians and jews.

nor, is there anything in the koran that commands christians and jews contrary to the instruction by which they abide and as found in the first two testaments of the bible.

in short, jihad terror as carried on by islam is contrary to the strictures of god, for which they will find eternal punishment, ... ,  in the fire, into which they will be cast on the day of judgment, where it will first consume their ears, lips and tongues.  (if i read my koran closely enough).

sura 29 is entitled "the spider," and it contains many interesting verses.

but, for my purposes, those verses of most interest establish that it is islamic doctrine & belief, straight from god through gabriel through mohammed, that the scriptures of the torah and the gospels are binding upon muslims just as and in the same manner as those scriptures revealed by mohammed.

it is written.

thus.--

14.  we sent noah out to his people.   ...  we saved him and those with him on the ark.  we made this a sign for all people.

16.  we also sent abraham.  he said to his people, "serve god and be mindful of him: that is better for you, if only you knew.  17.  what you worship instead of god are mere idols; what you invent is nothing but falsehood.  ...."

28.  and [we sent] lot.  he said to his people, "you practice outrageous acts that no people before you have ever committed.  29.  how can you lust after men, waylay travellers, and commit evil in your gatherings?"

39.  [remember] qarun and pharaoh and haman: mses brought them clear signs, but they behaved arrogantly on earth.  they could not escape us  40.  and we punished each one of them for their sins: ... ."

45.  [prophet], recite what has been revealed to you of the scripture; keep up the prayer: prayer restrains outrageous and unacceptable behavior.  remembering god is greater: god knows everything you are doing.  46.  [believers], argue only in the best way with the people of the book, except with those of them who act unjustly.  say, "we believe in what was revealed to us and in what was revealed to you; our god and your god is one [and the same]; we are devoted to him."

47.  his is the way we sent the scripture to you [muhammed].  those to whom we had already given scripture believe in [the qur'an] and so do some of these people.  no one refuses to acknowledge our revelations but the defiant.

51.  do they not think it is enough that we have sent down to you the scripture that is recited to them?  there is a mercy in this and a lesson for believing people.  52.  say, "god is sufficient witness between me and you: he knows what is in the heavens and earth.  those who believe in false deities and deny god will be the losers."

those who believe in the logic and message of grammar will please note that in these passages god's message is referred to as "scripture," and not "scriptures."  in these passages of the koran the scripture, the truth of things, is one body of work, the same as revealed by earlier prophets to jews and christians, and the same as revealed by mohammed.

the scriptures revealed by mohammed are the same as earlier scripture, and the scripture revealed to islam is the same as previous scripture.  

it is one body of work.

and, note one startling assertion, ... , and that is god's instruction to mohammed, telling him to tell the people,  "say, [prophet], "god is sufficient witness between me [god] and you [e.g., believing people]: he knows what is in the heavens and earth.

this is the koran speaking.

it is not 1400 years of interpretation, institutionalization, bureaucratization serving the interests of a political leviathan.  and, notice something else.  god is speaking not only of people who believe in scripture as revealed by mohammed, but also of believing people who believe in scripture as revealed by noah, by abraham, by isaac & jacob, by moses, by john the baptist and by the other prophets of the torah, and of the gospels.

in revelations.

conclusion.  and, it strikes me, perforce, that islam and muslims are bound as strictly to belief & observance of the scripture of torah and gospel as strictly as they are to observance of the scripture revealed in the koran.

that is what god says, is it not?  does it not say this, rather precisely, in the passages above?  it is not just mohammed that instructs & commands to this effect, but it is god's command that the scripture is one scripture, as revealed to the people.

and, that god is sufficient witness of the observance of that which is commanded.  i read nothing in these passages about imams and ayatollahs.  only about god, his instruction in the scripture, and the sufficiency of his witness of the same.

that's what the koran says.  after all is said and done.
