i just labor away in obscurity here at my little blog, unnoticed and unremarked upon, so that i have time to actually read things and reflect upon them. no pressures here, as a bad day is not to be very much distinguished from a good day, and i read and investigate what pleases me, and say what i please about it.
so it is, that i have been reading imam feisel abdul rauf in his own words.
"what’s right with islam: a new vision for muslims and the west," by: imam feisel abdul rauf. harper collins, new york, ny 2004. isbn 0-06-058272-3 (cloth).
chapter 6: a new vision for muslims and the west, sub-chap: “what an american imam is doing: the cordoba initiative” pp. 274-75.
“since the tragedy of september 11, i have dedicated myself to helping heal the relationship between america and the muslim world. this has meant an overflowing schedule of church, synagogue, and mosque presentations; newspaper, radio, and televisions interviews; and journeys to speak at interfaith gatherings and conferences of every sort on several continents. my commitment also led directly to the writing of this book.
reflected in this book are the philosophy and goals of a nonprofit endeavor that i have cofounded: the cordoba initiative. it is named after the period between roughly 800 and 1200 c.e., when the cordoba caliphate ruled much of today’s spain, and its name reminds us that muslims created what was, in its era, the most enlightened, pluralistic, and tolerant society on earth.
through partnering with jewish, christian, and muslim organizations as well as secular institutions and foundations, the [muslim created: jjjay] cordoba initiative is building a broad multifaith coalition to help repair the damage that has been done to muslim-american relations over the last fifty years [damaged by whom?: jjay] the initiative invites american muslims to play a leadership role in mediating between the muslim world and america. it plans educational and cultural programs, off-the-record international dialogues between leaders, communications initiatives, and ‘difficult’ interfaith conversations—all aimed at building understanding and peace, both at home and abroad. this book is an emanation of the ‘spirit of cordoba.’”
you may read this paragraph any way you want, and as is dictated by your intellect and comprehension of contemporary & historic events. but, the way i read it is that imam rauf aspires to build his "ground zero" mosque from the ruins of the world trade center, and he wishes to establish anew a "cordoba caliphate"as "created by muslims", and need we add, administered, policed and regulated by muslims under shar'iah and fiqh, in and over the united states, and he wishes to establish an enlightened, pluralistic and tolerant society as conceived, perceived and ruled by islam.
i am just going to keep repeating it in these pages until somebody acknowledges that i have, ... , just that one little candle that lights the world, as is said, ... , but the imam's book "what's right for islam ... " was published subsequently in malaysia under the title, in malay as "seruan azan dan puing wtc: dahwah islam di juantung americka pasca 9/11," which is generally translated into english as, "a call to prayer from the world trade center rubble: islamic dawah from the heart of america post 9/11." this was the third publishing of this book. it was under this title that imam rauf and his publishers chose to publish the book, and presumably the message he wished to convey to his malay and muslim readership. you figure it out.
i have done my duty by you. i have brought you the facts and rauf's own words, so that you may see it yourself, and so that you may draw those inferences and resultant factual conclusions as your intellect allows you. you choose your fate.

John, the Cordoba movement is a total fraud. Here is the meaning of the word Da'wah as it is indicated in the title of the book. From Islamic Da'wah in North America:
[iii] Da'wah ("to call," "to summon," "to invite") has two approaches:
1) "High-Church" (jihad), involving the conquest of nations, establishing Muslim institutions, and the conversion which came about over many generations, as they became enculturated to the new environment (used historically).
2) "Low-Church", conversion of individuals, seeking to influence society from the bottom upwards (used [sometimes] today).
[3] Sura 16:125=The expansionist verse for Da'wah: "Call unto the way of thy Lord with wisdom and fair exhortation, and reason with them in the better way." Versus Sura 2:256, which prohibits compelling others to enter the Islamic faith (pg.6). [emphasis and italics added]

thanks for the comment.--
yes, the "cordoba" thing is a quite grand deception, from start to finish.
and, the good imam. he talks like one of those "new age" fakirs, and has got the christian church big wigs completely flim flammed. they just get a chris matthews's "tingle" up their legs when he lays that bullshit on them.
always give the chickens corn before you lop their heads off.
