i've often remarked at the contemporary incongruity of "capitalists" embracing socialist and far left politics.
it has always seemed a big strange to my industrial revolution free-markets mentality.
but, the above little phrase came to me, and it all makes sense. (hint: bill gates does not share my industrial revolution free-market mentality. he is a monopolist, and an oligarch. think on it.)
contemporary "capitalists" are anything but. they are not about free markets, competition and free exchange of ideas, coupled with notions of liberty in the hands of free thinkers. and, by implication, free "deciders."
nope, they are about control and manipulation and solidarity in the market place. and, people who buy in accord w/ the "demand" created by mass advertising and movement.
and, this is where the tie in with marxism comes in, maintaining the oligarchs control and manipulation of the oligarchic position they enjoy, while maintaining the marxists control of the system which regulates all this. and, they all wish to run things.
what better system, as far as the oligarchs can fathom the matter, is there than a state bureaucracy dedicated to maintaining the market system which sees the oligarchs at the top, manipulating supply and demand in their favor. and, as far as the marxist state bureaucrats can see, is there any better system than one in which the money, influence and power held in society by the oligarchs is dedicated to seeing them maintain their power over the populace. as far as the marxist-leninist-socialists are concerned, heaven on earth has arrived in the confluence & congruence of the self interests in all of these groups, who see only benefit in a collectivist view of things.
big business. marxist bureaucracy. marxist little rich boy politicians who want to see their social and political positions, and that of their progeny, maintained forever. get ready to see the name gore, bush, and gates perpetuated in western power structures for the foreseeable future. right along with hammer and putin.
marching arm and arm, as it were, beneath the red banner of the hammer and hand scythe. (i know it doesn't rhyme, but, hey, that's what it is. it is not a sickle.)
marxists believe that they are destined to lead. oligarchs believe that they are destined to lead, and that their position in the world is determined by virtue. bureaucrats think that they are the only ones smart enough to lead, and that only they are intelligent enough to discern the large and defining issues.
all see the ability of the others to guarantee that "leadership."
it matters little, of course, that amalgamated buggy whip, inc., has never been able to maintain its leadership and steerage of the apparatus of the state, except by rule of the pistol at the temporal lobe, nor that such systems cannot seem to keep the populace happy with a ready supply of toilet paper that does not scratch, or bras that do not fit the people's titties.
they're working on it. they will not be disturbed.
(hint.-- that's why they also have the thugs in their employ. they do not enjoy criticism, nor challenge. and, they especially do not enjoy burps in the operation of the supply and demand process. enter the triumph of the planned economies -- not planned by state planners, but planned by gore, gates and the various worthies comprising the oligarhy, the oligarch.)
