much has been made of the discovery of christopher dorner''s burning pickup truck, and the "tracks" heading off into the snowy woods from its location.
it's been some days now.
do they have hounds in southern california?
i should think that almost any dog handler with a good set of blood hounds, or lion hounds trained on scent tracking, would have found dorner, dead or alive, by this point.
my guess is that dorner exchanged vehicles, and set his pickup on fire to "fix" his pursuers to that location, while he made his get away.
we'll see. he just doesn't seem the "woodsie" type to me. more to that than watching "survivor" reruns.

I don't know about hounds, but this is interesting.

grog:
people don't know how big "out there" is, until they've spent a little time in the "out there."
a friend who was a pilot and photographer once took a picture from the air of the general vicinity where we hunted elk.
it was at 6,000 feet in central washington's cascade mountains.
when we saw the picture, we were all taken a little aback.
our cozy little area, intimate to us, was immense and impossibly rugged in the pictures. and, so it was.
those searching for dorner would be much better off looking for him with dogs. and, from dorner's perspective, much better to have a fleet of drones looking for him, than to have 2 or 3 good blood hounds on his trail.
any day of the week.
