actually, there are two arms embargoes, one issued by the euro union and the other issued by the united nations security council.  i have posted on that, here.

seeking to further boost their successes, commanders of the free syrian army have gathered in turkey to settle on a new organisational military structure that is intended to increase co-ordination between groups on the ground and improve weapons supply lines.

in another boost, britain said that it will seek next week to amend an arms embargo on syria to make it easier to help the rebels.

a foreign office official said the increased “practical support” that britain envisaged would be training and non-lethal equipment. items such as body armour and night-vision goggles are currently caught up in a european arms embargo aimed at stemming supplies to assad forces.

see?  the british foreign office, and the daily telegraph say that there are embargoes against arms shipping, although they seem rather forgetful about the u.n. embargo.  (it extends to both sides, very expressly.  what do you think the soviets think about that?)  what more do you need?

apparently, it is only illegal to ship arms if you pay attention to the embargoes.  if you don't, and you are barack hussein obama, then no biggie.  even if you get your own ambassador roasted in the process, and leave people dying on the ground because you don't want your schemes to see the light of day.  no one seems to care that cowardice was coupled with illegality, ... , to leave your people behind while breaking international law, ... , who cares?

no one, apparently, if you are the golden boy, the chosen one.
