actually, i haven't mailed the letter yet, as i wanted to put it up here to see if any of you suggested any further matters to inquire about. sometime next week, however, this will go out on the post from milton freewater, oregon and wing its way toward the imagined center of the universe.
i have not addressed letters to the president of the united states, nor to the secretary of state of the united states, because they are both habitual and chronic liars on this, and any number of other topics. but, here it is. (oh, yes, when i send it out, it shall go out with caps.) --

sir:
i am requesting your help to find out if it is possible, for a civilian & citizen such as myself, to find out where fleet elements of the various fleets are deployed on certain dates. if so, then i would like to inquire about the location of the united states 6th fleet assets on the mediterranean ocean, on or about september 11, 2012.
if that information is not forthcoming, then i would like to know why, as such information is published on the internet as a matter of course.
is this sort of information available or is it considered "secret."
to be specific, i would like to find the relative deployments at sea for the 6th fleet air arms, fleet carriers, and landing amphibious assault carriers (individual or task force) for the days september 10 - 12, 2012. in addition i would like to now the location of any and all v-22 osprey squadrons, along with deployable marines available for transport into battle. i would make that same request w/ regard to chinook helicopter deployments, as they are troop carriers as well.
when i speak of “relative deployments,” i would like to know how far away from benghazi such elements were during the evening hours of 09.11.2012.
if you are to inform me that such information is not forthcoming, i would like to know the legal or command basis from withholding this information from me.
i am assuming that you keep records of such matters, eh? if so, would you please be so kind as to tell me where they are located, and to whom as custodian of such records i should make a proper inquiry and request to be give access to them, or to be supplied copies.
a united states ambassador, his aide, and two navy seals died on that date, and i want to know why. i would also like to know if the seals were under current enlistment, or under contract as strategic personnel. again, if this information is not forthcoming, i would like to know the legal basis you assert for not providing it.
please advise as to costs if my requests are granted.

p.s. is this sort of information available from a fleet or task force "information officer?" if so, could you please advise who that might be for the 6th fleet/mediterranean fleet.
p.s. for senator ron wyden. ron, you look to have prospered and risen in station since we went to law school together at the university of oregon. go ducks. i noticed that ellen rosenblum was running for elective office, and i assume that she won given the general tenor of the election.
