the greeks won't work. they don't want to work. they want to be "paid," but they will do nothing in return for it.
they don't do anything, they don't make anything, all they do is spend money they've sponged, eat the food others have produced, and fornicate the live long day. they are content to be the sybaritic "germany south," at the expense of tuetonic labor. this, btw, comes to an end, & soon. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/financialcrisis/9091021/Germany-drawing-up-plans-for-Greece-to-leave-the-euro.html .
their money is worthless, (as the euro rapidly becomes, as well), they don't pay their obligations, and they just ask for more, their mouths agape like pre-fledgling chicks.
they are simply a third world country that smells a little better than most, and that won't last long, as the sanitation workers will probably be the first to go on general strike.
the greeks are just about totally worthless, and the place will become a shit hole, indistinguishable from the "southern shore" of the mediterranean, in the twinkling of an eye. all of this will be confirmed, when demographers take note that greece exports high-class prostitutes & cheap whores to the rest of europe. that is just about all that anyone will want from out of greece.

Only one question. When EXACTLY was Greece ever a "first world country"? Near as I can tell (and I've been there) it's been a shit hole since long before electricity was invented.

laughing.
why, i had just assumed that modernity had smiled on greece, however briefly, it being a member state of the euro union, and all.
i've never been there. so, i guess i stand corrected. i've been to italy, and i liked it just fine, so i assumed greece was o.k.
i stand corrected.

p.s. even if you are being a little tough on the greeks, i guess the trip to the third world will not be a long one for them.
