reflections upon the death of daniel clive wheldon ....

open wheel motor car racing is very dangerous, perhaps even more so than being on a motorcycle at speed.

but, then again, so is flying a fighter aircraft, or racing old wwii fighters, or riding in the space shuttle.

it is also exhilarating, i should imagine, given my own experience at far less dangerous things.

and, climbing mountains, or free rock climbing, or climbing frozen water falls in winter, or any number of other things.

i should like to remind you of some things far less glamorous that are exceedingly dangerous, as well.  it is very dangerous being an electrical lineman, and fishing is a very dangerous occupation in which the exposure to danger is constant every second on the water, and being involved in the construction trades is exceedingly dangerous.  need we mention the danger of violent death undertaken by police officers and firemen every day on the job.

or, the risk undertaken by those soldiers who protect us.

and, finally, the point of all of this.--

in most of the world, opening ones mouth to express an opinion contrary to that which is accepted by the regime is power, or an opinion contrary to a dominate religious viewpoint, especially should it be islam, is very dangerous, indeed, and when certain thresholds are crossed, almost always very fatal, and sometimes quite gruesome.  see islam.  i should imagine no exhilaration at all in torture, or the most brutally inflicted death.

in those places where free speech still prevails, it should be a very cautioning & sobering reminder, ... , as against the backdrop of those threats to free expression, e.g., in the united states, those efforts to curb gun ownership, and those efforts to regulate discussion on the internet, ... , that such ability to speak ones mind was secured by blood, battle and the recourse to arms and edged weapons.

it is a world full of risks, and risk defines the parameters of all human activity.  and, many die protecting and upholding our values without fanfare and with little note.  excepting of course, the pope of the catholics, the father of the orthodox and the arch bishop of the anglicans, all of whom remain safe and sound in their mink and ermines and velvets in their little sinecures far removed, physically and spiritually from their flock who suffer death and persecution at the hands of islam in the middle east and the pacific islands: they will answer to god for their cowardice, and that is my faith.

but, back on topic.  quite literally, we pay with our lives for all our activities, all our passions & appetites, and all our beliefs.

it is evident that having failed to bring forth the socialist utopia of their dreams through either the electoral or political process, that the left hopes once more to wage revolution via the "99 percent" ...

it is really pretty self evident, and requires little elaboration.

with barack "the one & true hussein" obama's election, and the first few months of his administration, the radical left thought that they had by main force wrested the united states from its capitalistic/free market moorings and drug it whole hog into the european bureaucratic socialist state.

the left to run it, of course.

well, it was a close thing, but the democrats/radical left have failed to get the task done via electoral politics, and they appear on the brink of loosing the entirety of their gains because of their maladroit "governance" and "management" of the society, and the economy.

they reached too far, and fell short.

but, they have not abandoned their goal, nor have they abandoned the great dream to subjugate us all to a euro union wussy totalitarianism, to be run by, who else, ... , themselves.

hilary clinton continues to push for a monumental gun grab.  to have been aided and abetted, of course, by obama & holders use of "fast and furious" to discredit the firearm forever.

well, that has backfired.

so, they have done what they thought they could through "legitimate" channels (in their view, the little limp dicked wanna be totalitarians), and they perceive their failure and their soon to be ejectment from office.

so, it is back to basics, and back to their roots, and back to their most treasured and most affectionately held basic instincts, and they seek to wrest control of the country via the "99 percenters" occupation of the loci of power.

it won't be long, of course, until some pinhead determines to occupy the administration of harvard or columbia, and we go right back to the 60's, precipitated there by those pampered little pricks who ran the 60's in the first place, now having occupied the loci of power, and influence.

the media will "approve" and "cover" it, lavishly, of course, because the leftist there are in on the planning and execution of the plan, just as they were in the 60's, and just as they were complicit and participatory in the election of the biggest limp wristed & dicked one of all, the "one & true hussein" obama.

and, behind it all?  george soros, and a.c.o.r.n., just as i said recently.  there is no doubt about it.  soros, buffet and gates.  and, little al gore.  dig deep enough, and the money trails will emerge.

"even if there isn't a disaster, clean water is a 'must' in any outdoor activity like hiking, canoeing or hunting.  the more exertion an activity rquirs, the more water you need to stay fit and alert.  the problem is that producing sanitry water can be labor-intensive or expensive.  however, thanks to recent research, it doesn't need to be that way.

*the water must be clean enough for sunlight to penetrate all the way through the water.  a good rule of thumb is if you can see through the bottle from top to bottom, it's clean enough to use sodis.  if you can't, then the water needs to be filtered through a clean cloth, paper towels, coffee filters or some other means to eliminate sediment.

*the bottle must be clear.  the same brown and green coloring that keeps beer and other beverages from being affected by sunlight also keeps uv rays from killing all the organisms.  old, scratched bottles will also not be effective.

*the bottle must be smaller than 3 liters in size.  any larger and the uv rays may not be able to penetrate through all the water.

*the bottles must be laid down so that the sunlight can easily pass through.  it is best to lay them on something that radiates heat back into the bottle.  while it isn't necessary to do this, doing so speeds the process.

*keep the water in the bottle until used.  pouring it into another non-sterile container can re-contaminate it.

*if the sun doesn't shine for six hours in a day, let the bottle sit for two days.

"after purifying the water, store it in a dark place or algae may start to grow.  while the growth is not harmful, it is unappealing.  

"any hiker, hunter or canoeist that travels the wild places knows this method beats the constant hassle of filtering water.  fill the bottles in the morning, strap them on top of a canoe or back pack, or place them next to your tent and by dinner you will have all the drinking water you need.

"if you ever get lost or stranded, one of the most common pieces of trash is a pet bottle.  follow the sodis method and that trash is treasure.

1.)  in my view, all the nonsense revolving around the republican hopefuls striving to improve their resumes is killing the tea party agenda, and completely diluting and neutralizing the energy and vitality to the opposition to barack obama and his leftist coterie that the tea party engendered.

some dip-shit reporter is asking romney fine points about mormon theology, for christ's sake.  anybody among the press core asking the dip stick about the koran, and islam?

all this crap is diverting people's attention away from the basic issues, which center around outrageous spending, incompetence, and a never ending drive by the left to abridge our basic liberties.  this ridiculous squabbling among ourselves, e.g., conservatives and libertarians, takes away from the basic drive to take the country away from the leftists.

it is very destructive of the basic aim, to get rid of the bastard at all costs.

he suggested that obama could not get re-elected unless he convinced the american public that if given another 4 years in office he can reverse our economic ills.

in other words, another "hope" and "change" campaign, and the invocation of the press, media, intellectuals and the academy, that it is not the same old tired bullshit that he used to fool the people the first time.

in other words, the democratic strategy is to count on the american public being a bunch of ignorant, self deluded credulous idiots just one more time.  "once more into the breach, dear friends, once more ... ."

well, at first blush it all seems a bit preposterous.

what are these people protesting, these occupiers of city streets, these counter culture types who mock the wall street brokers, other than the fact that they are not being provided for, as promised.  most of them look as if they've never worked a day in their lives, and they certainly do not appear to developed either callouses or muscles doing any kind of physical labor: most of them, white and pampered appearing, would probably feel a little abused were it suggested to them that they perform menial labor if incapable of any other contribution to the labor pool.

but, is this protest as silly as it seems?

i think not.

they are simply demanding that which has been promised them, and that is something for very little if any contribution on their part at all.  they have, after all, been promised that society will provide, e.g., that the government will keep them in three hots and a cot.

and, that some fall guy would pay for it, without complaint.

conservatives feel vaguely affronted and perhaps threatened by this.

but, it may be a bit trickier to figure out who gets the sharp edge of the blade in all this.

consider, if you will, who has made the promise of eternal support and public largess in exchange for the dependable liberal/leftist/democratic party vote?  and, that is the promise of the democratic party, e.g., wealth transfer on an unprecedented scale.  the promise has been, to these occupiers, that if they voted for the democratic party, for liberals, that they would be provided for, and that others would pay, in exchange for their predictable exercise of the franchise.

the occupiers, no doubt, probably feel that they have upheld their end of the bargain.

and, i can only understand their protest as an expression of the/their perception that the democrats have failed them.  welfare, and public support and food stamps, are not as much fun as it seemed when they were young or in school.

and, they want more.

they want to live large and wide like the big people, like those pulling down all the green.

why should they expect anything different?  it is what they have been promised all their lives, this youngest edition of the best and the brightest.  who said a fucking thing about hard work, sacrifice, risk and failure, and the grit to pick oneself off the ground and go after it again?  when has anyone ever told the, the reality of "root hog or die?"

my guess is their disaffection runs against the left, as much as anyone.

oh, they talk the leftist cant about the rich and corporations.  but, even this chimps, chumps and would be champs have to realize, that it is the rich guys and corporations who provide the money for salaries, and the taxes by which they expect to be paid all the rest of their lives for their cleverness and potential.  they are big on potential.

they expect better.

because they were promised better.

and, they don't expect to work and take risks to obtain it, because, of course, that has never been part of their education, experience and, ... , not to kill the word, ... , nor their expectation.

the government has failed them.

they are, of course, hung up on an intellectual and ideological petard.  they rant that their enemies, corporations, business and money have grossly mistreated them, and that their lives are exhibits of cosmic unfairness.  after all, they went to school, and now they want the payoff.  

and, what is it they want, this payoff... , why, influence, big salaries and material things, the very things they "despise."  or, failing that, they want the permanent dole, just like european "students," no doubt.

sooner or later, they will comprehend.

now, as mentioned earlier, the republican/conservative/tea party types are vaguely nervous about this.

it is the liberals who should be quaking in their boots, their knees knocking and shaking.

they pretend to lead.

in reality, never having worked and being mostly from the academic hot house in which they have led temperature controlled lives, they don't know how to lead.  they wouldn't know how to make widgets, or organize a company or corporation to make widgets, or how to compete for a share of the widget market is the "directions" to do so fell in their laps off the ceiling.  well, as a matter of fact, the directions to do so did fall off the ceiling into their laps in micro economics graduate school classes, but, they were more interested in controlling such things and telling others how to do things as regulators, managers and bureaucrats, ... , we can call that macro economics, ... , so they never paid much attention on how you actually do anything.

to put it crudely, ... , everybody knows about sex, but few are proficient enough & attractive enough to be in demand to do it.

all our "leaders," liberals, leftists, communists, and other "ism"-ites, whether they be republicans or democrats, know how to do is tax, e.g., to extract wealth from the doers and give it to the non-doers, in exchange for office sustaining votes.  they have asserted their right to rule, and the rightness of their exerting a right to rule by running roughshod over democratic principles, by reason of their proficiency to manage the labor and effort of others, and by way of their fitness to run the societal and governmental institutions which run the system.

in this claim, they have been shown counterfeit, and wildly pretentious.  how so?  by the running of the economy into the ground, by the failure to understand the vaguest relation between international hegemony in economics and international prestige derivative from global reach and exercise of power?  no, though in this they are guilty.  but, who cares?  who gives a rat's ass?

no, the truth of the matter is, they have shown their lack of fitness, their pretense, their status of pretenders, simply by being unable to provide for the moochers as they little mommies and daddies did before they cast them into the cold streets of real life.

we are run by idiots, for the benefit of idiots, and in the meantime, those who work and provide and sustain these idiots and moochers grow more tired of the situation day by day.  and, the fact is, the idiots cannot extract enough money from the largest economy in the world to pay the quid pro quo to the other moocher idiots who put them into office.

the fact is, as always, the left/progressives/communists are welshers.  for 70 years they have welshed on their promises to blacks, to labor, to socialists and to others, and now they welsh on the moochers.

these protest amount to a recognition that this is so, and they amount to no more than that.  the moochers want more internet, more pop and popcorn for the all night "the big bang" sleepovers.  

this is not the "arab spring."

you tire of this bullshit?  you wanna bring the whole thing down?  hint.--  there is no need for revolution or gun fire, in reality.  

just don't go to work.

i do not see why holder and his minions should not be considered accessory to these crimes of violence perpetrated by the use of these weapons, nor do i see why they should not be held guilty as principles for violation of the law in allowing such weapons to be "straw purchased," in several outlandish instances said purchases carried out by felons known to the government.

let me see, i shall just have to get a little soft belly, pick up a couple chins, and get my nails done and rid myself of those nasty callouses, and get little soft girlie hands and a limp wet cold handshake, and breath that smells like a dead tuna, and i think i shall have it.  and, oh yes, a soft cashmere turtle neck to go with the pipe i shall effect.

i am just waiting for the right people to tell me what to say and think, and to tell me what the current party line is.  and, the uniform of the day.  something i hope that will go with my new gray cashmere, as they add such a pleasant aspect to a little round belly and sloped shoulders.  (that can be done surgically, can't it.  i shall have to inquire of the social security types, for medicare.)

i am looking forward to it.  my remaining days, my dotage, spent in mindless reverie and supported by some sort of disability payment.   i do hope and trust there will be someone to pay the taxes, or at least to run the printing presses. i especially am looking forward to the mindless reverie stuff, i think that i will be good at it, as i have seen the lights.

do you think that i might gain an audience with charles the j., and kiss the hem of his bermuda's, near his inner thigh?  he would like that, very much, i should expect.  i intend to emulate him to a "t," as the above paragraphs might well indicate, to the perspicacious.

i aspire to be as absolutely worthless a human being that i can be, for people with soft hands have never done evil.  i shall read all the trendy books.  and, say all the right things.  and, i shall harbor not the slightest suspicion that any of it is silly.  my mind shall be empty of all, except those slogans i am told to utter.  i shall be, ... , correct.  and armed with the faith that i am.

charles johnson doesn't give a whit or a fig for me, doesn't care the weight of the proverbial mustard seed about me one way or the other.  no, the real purpose of his screed is to try and tar pamela geller by her association with me.  pamela geller is the target of the blog post at little green footballs, not i.  and, such is the measure of his worry over her prestige and influence, that he engages in this, ... , i don't know, ... , empty polemic, ... , nonsense, ... , to try and harm her.  you come up with a phrase, i am chuckling too hard to think of a good one.

he shan't touch her.  he shan't damage her.

he simply doesn't understand the strength of her appeal.  

it is simply this, charles.  she speaks and writes the truth, and she advocate it without apology or concession (to this sort of hysterical pap), and advocates to benefit those who do good in this evil old world.  charles, you might try it someday, though i suspect it quite beyond you.

first things first.--

1.)take out the talking head media, and burn the new york times, the los angeles times and the washington post to the ground.  draw and quarter the media, and shoot their remains from canons in the four directions of the prevailing winds.

rinse, lather, repeat as needed.

2.)take out all the incumbent leadership of both parties in the congress, and every self avowed socialist and communist in congress.  give them all proper muslim burials at sea, just like osama bin laden.

eliminate pensions for congressional service.  rinse, lather, repeat as needed.

3.)eliminate the faculty senates at harvard, yale, columbia, nyu and university of california at santa barbara.  boil bill ayers, bernie dorhn and angela davis in canola oil, and feed their remains to the fishes.

they are all physical cowards.  they should fall into line pretty quickly.  repeat every ten years as a prophylactic, on general principle.  

and, 

4.)now that the "arab spring" has brought enlightenment to the middle east, send all of the muslim immigrants back to their native countries, in boxes or tourist, their choice.

burn all the mosques.  period.

and, throw all the living governors of new york, california, ohio, illinois, washington, florida and massachusetts into the fiery pits, from which there is no escape.  sorry, jeb.  but, i think that you were a skull & bones internationalist, too, weren't you?
