it's halloween, perhaps an appropriate setting for a little of the macabre.
it is not uncommon for people with advancing diabetes to defend the fate of a limb amputation by amputation, a slice at a time, to try and preserve the remainder of that limb. it generally is not a very successful tactic, as people with diabetes suffer as much from bad habits as they do pathology, and fatalism is not a sound basis for improving those habits.
so inch by advancing inch, until the inevitable, the limb is amputated, sliced like a salami feeding a ravening brood. sometimes, until nothing is left but the fate of the limb, and the patient himself.
and so it will be with barack obama and eric holder as they defend against the expanding revelation of their complicity in and direction of the "fast and furious" gun running scandal, and their responsibility for the death of united states law enforcement officers because of the stupidity of the "scam."
update, 11.02.2011: the mainstream media meme.-- the "fast and furious" scandal is not harmful to obama or holder, unless they can be attributed with personal knowledge of the operation, and its deficiencies. http://www.cnn.com/2011/11/02/politics/fast-and-furious/index.html?eref=mrss_igoogle_cnn . and, certain "experts" are cited to that effect. to which i call bullshit. this is simply "spin doctoring," and in my view, holder and obama are scared shitless over this. thus, we shall see a whole slew of sacrificial goats go down, in order to try and protect the presidents worthless butt. end update.
this was revealed full force on the "cbs evening news" this evening, sheryl atkinson reporting. now, if you've been following the blogs at all, you know full well that obama and holder authorized the program, and have made public statements acknowledging the extent of their knowledge. and, an asst. united states attorney is on youtube as stating that fran & ollie put the matter in motion.
was that the gist of atkinson's reportage this evening.
no, it was not. her reporting this evening was to the effect that a lower level functionary has admitted knowing that the program was ongoing, knew that atf & other justice department types watched illegal straw sales taking place and let the guns illegally pass into the hands of mexican and other thugs.
he allowed that he was remiss in not passing this along to his superiors.
this is laughable, except when judged against the credulous public's ability to swallow just about any level of bullshit when directed to do so by the media. hey, it was on cbs evening news, they wouldn't lie to us, just to elect obama again, would they?
so, at appropriate times, obama and holder will give up a slice of leg, just like a salami surrenders to its fate a slice at a time.
and, in this process of little admissions trying to prevent the final admission of guilt, the news media will aid and abet them, and will cover up the truth and tell ever lie necessary to support its dissembling of the truth.
in my view, sheryl atkinson is as guilty as obama & holder. she has become a foil, not even deserving of the more accurate term of accessory after the fact.
